Our story

A creativelove at first sightin 2025

BuLu Design was born from a spontaneous friendship and mutual admiration between an exceptional artist and creator: one a master upholsterer, the other a virtuoso of tufting.

Together, they decided to merge their skills to create unique pieces: textile objects that tell a story, that you want to touch, that last.

Each BuLu Design creation is made by hand in our ateliers in France.

Who we are

Two women,one vision

Éponine Lutz, Tufting artist — co-founder of BuLu Design

Éponine Lutz

Tufting artist

Éponine discovered tufting in North America, a technique that lets her sculpt matter like a painting in relief. Each stitch is a gesture, each motif an intention. Her creations draw from the botanical and organic world, transforming wool into living artworks laid on the material itself.

Marie Bultingaire, Master upholsterer — co-founder of BuLu Design

Marie Bultingaire

Master upholsterer

Marie evolved within the textile world, between embroidery and lace, before becoming a master upholsterer. She masters the art of creating and dressing forms with precision and elegance. Her designer's eye brings harmony, balance and a strong artistic sensibility. For her, a pouf is never trivial: it is a textile architecture conceived for the pleasure of the eye and of comfort.

FAQ

Everything about our textile art

Tufting is a contemporary textile-art technique that inserts loops of wool to create genuine textile relief, where textile embroidery works the thread on the surface. At BuLu Design, tufting is combined with textile patchwork and upholstery finishing to shape pieces of textile in volume.

Our pieces draw on the organic shapes of the living world, between mineral inspiration and marine inspiration — pebbles, corals, waves. Each motif becomes a textile sculpture with a singular textile texture.

Yes. Each pouf and cushion is a unique piece, at the crossroads of collectible design and fine craftsmanship: tufted, sculpted and hand-finished, never identically reproduced.

Both at once. They are pieces of artistic furniture — functional, yet conceived as works of contemporary textile art: a textile sculpture you place and touch every day.

Yes: dimensions, colour palette and motifs can be adapted on request. Each order gives rise to a unique piece, designed with you and made in the spirit of fine craftsmanship.

BuLu Design was founded in 2025 by Éponine Lutz (tufting) and Marie Bultingaire (upholstery and textile embroidery). Every piece is handmade in their ateliers in France, in an approach rooted in contemporary textile art and fine craftsmanship.
